The Well is not part of a denomination, but we do affiliate with a number of other healthy churches and Word of Grace Network, where we can give and receive. Our primary affiliation is with Wellspring Fellowship of Penn Yan, New York. We also relate with local neighboring groups and churches to further our mission.
The Well was born out of a longstanding desire to see a new, life-giving church established in Holmes County, Ohio. While there are a number of good churches in the area, we had longed to see one built that would be clearly Charismatic and Christ-centered so more families could come into this wonderful, Spirit-filled life.
In March of 2016 a small group began to meet in Lamar and Janet's basement. After 6 months, that small group officially became The Well in September of 2016. From March 2016 to September of 2016 the small group had called itself "Peace & Priority". After clearly hearing The Lords call to officially become a church, the name was changed to "The Well" in September of 2016.
We had a deep desire to own our own building, and we spent many hours in prayer seeking and asking the Lord for a place to call home. On April 1st of 2017 we purchased the old Longenecker Mennonite Church building. The Lord brought us much increase over the following years, and in 2021 we added an expansion and remodeled our current facility into what it is today.
We continue to be amazed at how The Lord has taken a small group of people who said yes to encountering Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our lives, and that He has entrusted us with a part of the bridegroom known as The Well.
